Parity for Disability’s day services are open Monday to Friday and based at:
- 92-94 Whetstone Road, Cove, Farnborough, Hampshire GU14 9SX
- St Martin’s Church, 231 Upper College Ride, Camberley, Surrey GU15 4HE
- 23 Salisbury Grove, Mytchett, Surrey GU16 6BP
The day services accommodate up to 42 students per day, providing 210 student places per week. They run Monday to Friday with students choosing to attend anywhere from a half day to a full five days per week.
Staff are able to meet the students’ needs throughout the day, with active participation and choice, as well as support them in expressing themselves, personal care, eating and drinking, and moving around.
Unlike traditional services, Parity employs the right level of staff to ensure the students’ safety, meet their particular care needs and promote communication. Staff train in all the mandatory requirements and undertake a wide range of further training.

Everyone using Parity for Disability’s day services takes part in activities intended to meet their needs and promote their wellbeing as defined in the Care Act 2014. These activities are agreed through close consultation with the student, their family or carer and related professionals. They form the Individual Programme Plan, a tailor-made programme for each student with an emphasis on goal-setting.
All Parity staff undertake Parity’s own training module, ‘Developing Learning Programmes’. The module lays out the reasoning behind Parity’s approach, explaining how staff can work to meet students’ psychological and emotional needs, not just their physical requirements. It explores methods of developing appropriate activities for people with profound and multiple disabilities. Watch the video about our Penny Walk on Parity’s youtube channel.
Most of the students have little or no speech, so we invest in communication training for the staff, specialist approaches and devices. Through speech and communication work, students are supported to take control over their environment and their own life.
The students need to be as able and involved as possible in their activities. For this reason, the staff team includes a qualified physiotherapist who works 25 hours per week within the day services, advising staff on safe positioning, appropriate equipment and tailored exercise programmes, helping ensure students maintain or improve the movement that they have and avoid the onset of pain and discomfort.
We respect families and carers as experts on a student’s needs and wishes. Day service managers communicate and ensure the right care plans are in place. We provide support and information, and involve families and carers fully in decisions regarding the student.
