A Changing Places toilet at Frimley Park hospital is becoming a real prospect.
Students Ian, Lisa and Mandy with staff members Darren and Becky learned that a suitable space exists at Frimley Park Hospital for a Changing Places facility.
This matters for the students because standard accessible toilets aren’t, in reality, accessible to most people with profound and multiple disabilities, who need support from one or two carers and the facilities to change safely, comfortably and with dignity.
The Frimley Health planners brought up some of the issues to consider, such as obtaining funds for the installation, keeping the room secure once in operation and maintaining the equipment.
The Parity team shared their experiences of Changes Places toilets in the area, such as the facilities at Marwell Zoo and Go Ape.
We’ll continue to follow Frimley Health’s progress in bringing a much-needed Changing Places toilet to the hospital.
