Talk about going above and beyond!
While Shop Volunteer Lyn Blanchette helps prepare the Church Crookham shop for re-opening on April 12th, she’s getting ready for a tandem skydive on May 22nd.
“This is something I have always wanted to do and at the age of 70 I thought it’s about time I did it,” Lyn said. She shared that her late husband John, for whom she was a carer, had wanted to book Lyn onto a skydive as a birthday present. But Lyn, concerned about what would happen to John should anything happen to her, always turned down the opportunity.
Our thanks also to Lyn’s son Paul who has agreed to join her in dropping from a height of 13,000 feet. Paul has already raised an additional £400 while Lyn herself has smashed two fundraising targets and now aims to raise £1,000.
Parity is a nominated charity of Rushmoor Mayor Charles Choudhary and the skydive on May 22nd at an airfield camp in Netheravon, Salisbury, run by the Army Parachute Association, is part of the Mayor’s year of fundraising. We are grateful to the Mayor and his Charities Team for all their efforts to raise funds over such a difficult year.
