To help express their feelings, concerns and experiences in life, a student created two collages over a period of several weeks.
They made the artworks with hand-over-hand support from a Parity keyworker as they needed it.
Each collage was made up of a number of individual drawings and words or phrases.
The keyworker supported the student hand-over-hand with drawing shapes.
Each drawing represented the student’s personal ideas, feelings, and preferences. The keyworker would support the student in expressing them. For example, the student was anxious about some wet paint where they lived. To help reassure them, the keyworker suggested drawing a hair dryer drying the paint.
When each drawing was finished it was cut out and taped onto the collage. Because the student dislikes wet things, tape was used rather than glue.
To cut around each drawing, they used double-handed scissors together. The student pressed the tape into place.
