Alan’s Chicken Pie

A student breaking eggs for a chicken pie

Student Alan’s decided to cook his own lunch. On a different day, Alan might choose to go down the road to the nearby shops to pick out something to eat. Today, though, he’s going to buy all the ingredients to make a chicken pie.

One of Alan’s favourite activities is to go to Asda in Farnborough. He sets off in the Parity minibus with his keyworker.

Alan enjoys chatting with the staff in Asda customer services. His activities are very much focused around people, as Alan loves to be in company. He remembers names and faces well.

Back at Parity, with support, Alan does all the work of making the pie from beginning to end, chopping, weighing, rolling out pastry, greasing the tin, mixing the ingredients and putting the pie in the oven. Then he helps wash and tidy up.

Alan still doesn’t stop. At lunch, before enjoying the results of his work, he volunteers to take everyone’s drinks orders.

Alan helps wash up after lunch and puts the tea towels in the washing machine. Finally, he does take a rest – but keeps the conversation going!
