Over the last year, it was only down to the efforts of volunteers that Parity for Disability stayed afloat. Volunteers helped with technical challenges so we could keep developing digitally. Volunteers kept our premises shipshape, inside and outside. Volunteers donated made-to-order scrubs and more vital protective equipment. You helped make sure that our students could start using Parity’s day services again from August 2020 and your contributions helped keep the doors open through the second lockdown. Outreach staff put in extra time above and beyond their contracted hours. Parity trustees closely monitored the situation and met regularly throughout.
Parity’s North Camp and Church Crookham shops re-opened thanks to volunteers, who also brought in more vital income by selling items through eBay and other virtual or real channels. Volunteers took on the 2.6 Challenge and other fundraising feats, raising funds in some new and innovative ways.
We were sorry to say goodbye to the Frimley shop volunteers, and to those long-time shop volunteers who felt this was the right time to retire.
As we move towards more hopeful times, we’re starting to plan for a big celebration of Parity’s amazing volunteers, past and present. In the meantime, Volunteers Week is a great opportunity to reflect and say THANK YOU to everyone.
