Camberley Fun Zooms

Hopping challenge

Mondays in lockdown were never the same for a group of Camberley students after staff members Darren Shergold (Camberley Manager), Ian Hoole (Senior Keyworker) and Sam Gomez (Keyworker) started engineering their live Fun Zooms. Each week, students watching at home split into two teams led by Darren and Ian.

Students completed tasks to score points for their team, like making educated guesses as to how well the Team Captains would do in their own challenges.  Other members of staff contributed their skills too. George sang and played the guitar, Karen in a wig and shawl presented ‘Storytime with Grandma’ and Millie in a labcoat bravely undertook sometimes unpredictable science experiments. Sam was kept busy continually tracking the points, managing the props, filming all the activity, and smoothing out technical difficulties.

Fun Zoom Activities

The costumes, suggested by a different student each week, were the icing on the cake!

More fun zooms may be happening, this time with the other Parity services.

“We’d also like to keep doing some of the sessions face to face with the students at Camberley, along the same lines,” Darren said, “incorporating the activities like Storytime with Grandma and the different challenges.”
