Indoor Skydiving

Several Parity students have discovered a thrilling new pastime after student Richard took on a daring sponsored challenge.

From the start, while Richard’s decision to fundraise for Parity with an indoor skydive was met with enthusiasm, no one else showed any desire to join him in the venture.

As Service Manager Mandy Gray observed, ‘Richard put aside any fears he may have had in order to raise money for his friends.”

Richard used a Parity minibus to travel to the iFLY indoor skydive centre 20 miles away in Basingstoke, where staff were very supportive and effectively assisted our student to enter the ‘airspace’ and embark on his unique flight.

The activity turned out to be exhilarating.

“He was laughing in the face of danger and even asking to go higher!” said Mandy.

“I really enjoyed it and feel proud to have raised money for the day centre,” Richard said.

Not only did Richard successfully raise funds for the Camberley day service, he inspired followers.

A student who saw photos of the unique experience and heard Richard talking about it indicated to Parity staff that he definitely wanted to experience this for himself.

Another successful indoor skydive took place and more great photos circulated the day service.

Now word has got round and indoor skydiving has become a regular activity.

“It is so important that our guys are able to benefit from doing activities where they can really push their personal limits,” Mandy said.

Congratulations to Richard who not only raised over £300 but raised everyone’s expectations too.
