Make Your Own Jellyfish

Becky from Parity shows you how to make a jellyfish at home.

Instructions are below the video.

You will need:

  • Paper bowls or Plates
  • Coloured string or wool
  • Paint and Paint brushes
  • Scissors
  • Skewer or sharp pencil

Paint the bowl/plate on both sides. (You will need to shape the plate into a bowl shape do this once painted)

For the tentacles, cut 10 – 12 pieces of string/wool to approximately 40 cm – 60cm in length. (You can vary the lengths if you like)

At the centre of the bowl/plate – piece two small holes with the pencil/skewer (be careful) approximately 2 cms apart.

Cut a piece of string/wool to 40 cm and thread it thru the holes so it comes out the bottom of the bowl/plate (This will be to hang your Jellyfish and to help secure the tenticles).

From the inside of the bowl, pull the string up to form a small loop.  Thread the tentacles through and roughly centre them under the loop.

Turn over the bowl and pull the string/wool tight and tie a double knot.

Back on the inside, grasp the tentacles as one bunch and tie a single knot.

Now hang up your Jellyfish and enjoy!

If you use fluorescent paint the Jellyfish will glow in the dark.
