South Wood Country Park New Visitor Centre and Playground are now open – and we’re delighted to share that they include a Changing Places toilet and accessible roundabout. The toilet is due to be open when the café opens mid to end of February, as the café will act as keyholder for the toilet.
Two disabled parking bays are in front of the Visitor Centre. (School parties will drop and park elsewhere.)
Parity Executive Director Alison Cooper worked with Rushmoor Borough Council on the accessibility of the new spaces in the 57-hectare park.
Alison has checked out the new Centre and is impressed with the facilities.
“Definitely somewhere to add to the list of must-visit accessible venues,” Alison said, noting that the Changing Places toilet includes a height-adjustable changing bed. “They’ve gone top of the range on all the bathroom equipment, with the overhead hoist, a shower, accessible loo and screen, up-and-down hand basin and a very flash hand drier!”
We’re hoping to start visiting in the spring. We look forward to reporting back once Parity’s students have had a chance to explore the new facilities for themselves.
