When a local council put out a call for assistance to people experienced in wheelchair travel, Parity students Adam and Sunil were on hand to provide their input.
The students, along with two Parity staff members, took a Parity minibus to Rushmoor Borough Council offices to test the suitability of a newly adapted taxi.
The students checked the ramp, seatbelt and harness system in the taxi in front of members of Rushmoor’s licensing team, as well as representatives from Cab Direct, who sold the taxi and Penso, the firm that adapted the vehicle.
Parity staff were able to assist the students, in turn, up the ramp and, once inside the vehicle, successfully secured each student using the seatbelt and straps. When asked, both Adam and Sunil told everyone yes, they would be happy to travel in the taxi.
