As you may have heard, we’ve taken the sad decision not to reopen Parity’s shop on Frimley High Street, due to the dwindling footfall in the area. We therefore did not renew the lease when it expired in November.
Pictured top left are Senior Shops Manager Christine Stevens and retiring Frimley Shop Manager Millie Maling, who oversaw the smooth running of the shop with Assistant Manager Sue Conry and a loyal team of volunteers.
“It has been an absolute joy working with everyone,” said Millie. “A very special time in my life with many friends made along the way. I am so sad to be leaving. Wishing everybody much, much love.”
“I know that all our staff, volunteers and customers will miss it,” said Chairman Owen Durrett. “Over the years the Frimley shop has made a huge contribution in so many ways. It has raised significant funding for the charity.
“The shop has been an important social focus for the regular customers and also the amazing community of volunteers. It has been a key part of the local economy and has played a big role in encouraging recycling, keeping reusable items out of landfill. And the window displays have always been commented on most favourably!”
Owen Durrett has written personally to each volunteer to express the Board’s appreciation for the part they have played in the shop’s history. We hope all will remain in touch.
Message from Christine Stevens, Senior Shops Manager:
“Sadly, Millie,Sue and the team of volunteers, because of Covid19 and lockdowns, have not been able to be at the shop to say goodbye and thank you to all the faithful, supportive customers who have shopped with us over the years.
I would like to thank Millie, Sue and all the volunteers past and present for all their hard work at the Frimley Shop. Enjoy retirement, Millie! Sue has agreed to stay on and cover the North Camp and Church Crookham shops should they require help at any time due to staff shortage. Volunteer Rosie has joined the North Camp team on a Monday morning, and Pam has said she is happy to volunteer as and when needed.
We at North Camp since opening in July have seen some Frimley Shop customers shopping with us, which pleased us very much. Thank you and please continue to support us.
This has not been an easy year for the shops. Thank you to all staff and volunteers working in both North Camp and Church Crookham shops, for all your hard work to bring the much-needed funds in.”
